Seasons by John Burningham
I found a fabulous book awhile ago...{Out of town thrift stores seem to surrender the best treasures; the ladies selling usually give me things because they seem to feel sorry that I would need or like such items! :) }
A children's book, "Seasons" by John Burningham. The illustrations are just lovely. Four of the pages fold out to posters 22"x18"...The problem is I have a thing about using books...About taking them apart or cutting them or even clipping from magazines. In my childhood home books were held with the same reverence as religious artifacts in a church. I've relaxed quite a lot in my fanaticism but I feel anxiety just thinking of taking these lovely illustrations from the dark, unseen depths of a bookshelf to the white, light filled walls...

What shall I do?
I am in the first stages of a "using everything or getting rid of it" lifestyle...So while my head is telling me to grab the exacto, my heart and habit are strongly opposed...

Ooh, I know what you mean. I get torn with that as well. The book is beautiful. My rules usually are, if it's really dilapidated, then I tear it apart and turn it into something charming. If not, then, that's where the problem comes in. hehehe. Good luck :)

Once when I was in that situation I cut out everything. I had to make my life lighter. I do not regret it because my life still needs to get lighter.

I like those pictures a lot.

My suggestion is to make a pile, then subpile, another subpile. Do not give it the ax in one shot.

I am not helping, am I ?

I agree with Mice, that's a hard one that's why I don't bring much home. We "make" enough already to fill a barn.

*gasp* I don't think I could bring myself to cut up a book :0 unless it was already falling apart. I was raised to feel the same as you about books, but I agree that some artwork should be seen and enjoyed! Oh, what a dilemma...

It appears I am, yet again, not alone.
I guess I'll flip a coin! :)
The book does have some tears and marks but nothing serous.
Thank you Loves...
