It's high time to change the negative connotations of "Artist"...

An Artist is perpetually poor, unstable, irresponsible, weird...

An Artist IS...

A Creator...

Aware...

Provocative...

Rich...

Colourful...

Creative...

Inspirational...

Human...

An Artist can have the same traits as any other title...They often carry two titles. Doctors are Artists. Janitors are Artists. Engineers are Artists. Taxi Drivers are Artists.

I am an Artist.

I have only been able to call myself an Artist in the last couple of years though I've sold and created art for most of my life...I still feel strange telling people exactly what I do because it encompasses a lot...I paint. I photograph. I write. I create textile pieces. I've worked in interior design. I make jewellry. {Did you know Canadians spell jewellry with two "L's"?}

What do you "see" when someone says Artist?
